I’m the worst vegetarian ever

So as promised, here is my second post of the day!

So I’ve been vegetarian for probably about 11/12 years. I decided to because I just didn’t eat meat very often and I didn’t like the thought of eating animals. Even as a kid I used to question my mum about the animals on my plate.

So about 12 years later and here I am. The worst vegetarian ever. People always think vegetarians eat veggies and “rabbit” food like lettuce and what not. But not this girl.

I may have a slight sugar problem. As in, I’m one of those people who could live off junk food. I don’t take vitamins either so it’s just not all around the smartest combination.

I have been tracking what I eat in a day and really trying to eat healthier as well. I’ve been doing so much better the last couple months but I’ve really been being way more strict the last couple weeks.

I’ve been noticing a small difference which has been really encouraging for me to keep at it! If you are looking for a meat replacement or something that has tons of protein.

It’s a brand called ‘Gardein’. They have everything from chicken wings to turkey cutlets with gravy. Obviously without the meat. By far the best meat substitute I have tried. My boyfriend who is the farthest from being vegetarian will sometimes try my dinners and admit that they actually taste like meat!!

If any of you have great healthy recipes or have tried this brand let me know!!

Netflix and wine…?

Day four!!!! Happy Friday!!

You’re probably thinking… you didn’t blog yesterday… well you are correct BUT to be fair, I had this entire post typed out and ready and then I fell asleep. So today, you get two posts!!!

I think this is the most I’ve ever blogged in a month or even longer and I don’t know about you guys but I am super pumped about it.

I’ve been feeling very blah. If you have ever worked in retail like me you know the dreaded January and how malls and stores go from absolute chaos where people hurdle small children to get the last item in stock at that amazing price… no? That’s just me? My point is everything goes from absolute chaos to tumbleweeds floating by and the only people you see are ones making these soul crushing returns.

So at the end of my work day I really look forward to physically crawling into bed (mostly with a glass of wine) and snuggling with my puppers and my boyfriend too if he’s lucky. Lately I’ve been looking for a good show to get into on Netflix and if you have a good recommendation let me know in the comments!

If you’re looking for something to watch here’s a couple I’ve checked out already:

  • Wentworth
  • You
  • Murder Mountain
  • Greys Anatomy
  • Friends
  • How I Met your Mother
  • The haunting of Hill House
  • Atypical

And there’s a bunch more… I clearly watch everything 😂

If you have and good suggestions let a girl know!

25 and still rebellious… or at least trying to be

Happy Wednesday everyone! I made it to day three of blogging everyday for January! (Even though I started on the 7th) I may be a little late in the day, or a lot but sometimes we get busy with life and that’s okay. I’ve kept my commitment so far, and that I am proud of.

I’ve been posting about being productive and talking lots about goal setting. It has been motivating me but yet I am still a little frightened.

Trying new things and stepping out of your comfort zone can be a really scary thought. I have troubles with my confidence and caring too much about what people think. I am trying to figure out how to get over these fears because I find it holds me back on completing my bigger goals and adventures.

I’ve been thinking, and decided that I need to be a little rebellious. Don’t get me wrong, I was a little wild when I was younger; always staying it later than curfew, giving my parents a little sass here and there. (A lot of sass actually. Sorry mom.) Well, if I was so rebellious then, why can’t I be now?

Now you’re probably asking yourself-how’s a 25 year old supposed to be rebellious when she’s her own person, own adult and doesn’t live under the same roof as her parents anymore? Well the concept it quite simple. I need to be rebellious against myself and my own mind which seems to be the culprit in holding me back of my greater accomplishments.

When my mind hesitates it starts flooding with negative and unsupportive thoughts. Ive got to focus on not over over thinking, making the plunge for it and do the complete opposite of what my mind tells me. Reverse psychology is still a thing right?

I’m starting to come to the realization that if I let these insecurities and fears hold me back I’m never going to accomplish all these amazing adventures I have planned for myself. It may not be easy, but it’s something that needs to be done!

January is my month… let it be yours too!

Good evening, or afternoon or morning, where ever you are reading this.

It is 8:41pm on a Monday evening. I’m watching Murder Mountain, making my lunch for tomorrow, writing this post and drinking a glass of wine. Wine is essential after a long work day.

I hope everyone’s week is starting off well. I know mine is a little busy and slightly stressful but I know I can work through it with a little motivation and a game plan. After I had written my post yesterday about goal setting, I decided to make January my month to start getting on track and staying there! I am vowing to myself as well as all of you that I will be writing a post a day, starting yesterday!

I am going to be digging deep for some inspiration. If you have any ideas about what you would like to see me post, let me know in the comments, I would love to hear from you all!

If you are new to my page, please bear with me. It really is a work in progress and I am still finding myself on here but we all have to start somewhere, right? It may be a little bit of trial and error – it definitely has been already. I do want so say a huge thank you for the support so far. I do appreciate every single one of you that has taken the time to read and like my posts, comment and follow my page.  On a side note, since I am going to be frequently on WordPress for the next little while, if you have any pages/posts you recommend to check out (even if it’s your own), let me know in the comments as well!

Goal Setting for January

Well, it is that time of year again. Where everyone set their new years resolutions and more often than not, goals are not followed through. Maybe that is just me.

I got my brand new planner for this year and I have already filled it in with my yearly goals I want to achieve. If I learned anything from goal setting is, sometimes it is better to be more specific with what you want to achieve.

Example:

Goals for 2019: Read more VS. Goals for 2019: Read 1 book per month = 12 total

This may seem easy and not much of anything, but last year (It is still weird saying that) I wrote a bunch of goals in January and about 8 months later I realized I hardly checked off any of them. So I rewrote my goals being more specific and frequently following up to see how I was doing. I found that this was slightly more productive than what I was doing prior.

To improve even MORE, I have started writing daily goals to help work towards my year end goals. I will write them the night before or that morning while I am having my coffee. Yesterday I achieved, 6/8 goals. I know it’s not perfect and realistically some days might not be, but this is a start.

If you need some inspiration, here’s what some of my daily goals look like as well and my year goals.

DAILY GOALS:

  • Do the dishes
  • Finish up laundry
  • Write Blog Post
  • Start new book
  • Walk the puppers
  • Tidy spare room
  • Book hair appointment

YEAR GOALS:

  • Gym more (Go twice a week and build up to three times min by March 1st)
  • Start streaming on twitch
  • Don’t care what other people think
  • Gain more self confidence and self love
  • Read all the Harry Potter books (I know, I know I’m really far behind on this one)
  • Look into starting a business
  • Step out of my comfort zone (my mum always said if an opportunity presents itself and you’re scared to take the leap, it means that you should do the things that scare you the most)

I know I also said above that being specific is important, but some of these goals are already challenging enough, like start a business, go to the gym, and start twitch – I am currently lacking the self confidence I need to accomplish some of these things. So if I can accomplish one, then I accomplish the other.

Let me know if there are any ideas you know of for goal setting! Thanks for reading!

How I stay motivated – Part 2

Monday morning – I have already had my morning coffee and breakfast and I find myself opening up my planner. To be honest, I have had a lot going on that I have lost sight of my goals that I wanted to work towards.

It’s been almost 8 months into the year, and I haven’t been able to cross off a single one of my goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year. (If you are new to my page or if you haven’t read my previous post about motivation, click here to get all caught up).

Now that you are caught up – I was SO excited to get things rolling and really start improving myself and get some goals checked off! Now, we are more than half way through the year and I feel as if I haven’t accomplished anything. It’s been discouraging and it’s easy to let that motivation slip away even further.

I decided to re-write some goals that I wanted to accomplish from now until the end of the year and I realized something interesting… My goals have changed.  Comparing to what I wrote at the beginning of the year, some remained the same and some of the major ones have changed. It made me realize that my goals were not exactly as specific and were more vague. (Example: Read more VS. Read a minimum of twelve books this year) I also should have been doing frequent check ins with my goals. Whether its monthly or every few, your goals may change depending on what is happening in your life. Let me be the first to say that is totally okay!

It doesn’t mean you are a failure because haven’t completed your initial goals. It means you’ve grown as a person and realized you want to accomplish greater things to improve your everyday life or just to be proud of yourself.

All that being said, I am now going to start doing frequent check ins with my goals and accomplishments. A good way to do that so you don’t forget is set a reminder in your phone, three months from now so look over what you wrote, see if you are able to cross some things off, or maybe you want to add or remove something! DO IT – Set that reminder in your phone RIGHT NOW, before you leave this post so hopefully I can help you guys stay motivated too! When you think about quitting, think about why you started and how proud of yourself you will be when you achieve your accomplishments.

I saw a quote today and it spoke out to me so much, and hopefully it will to all of you. “If you want something you’ve never had, then you’ve got to do something you’ve never done”

Not sure what to put down for some goals? Here are a couple from my list!

Emmy’s Goals for 2018

  • Read at least 5 books.
  • Write more consistently (Blog a minimum of 2 a week to start)
  • Go to the gym more, and keep track to see your own dedication
  • Do my first camera live twitch stream
  • Finish my business plan and present to investor by December 2018

PODCASTS ARE UNDERRATED

Hey Everyone!

I’m back once again, and I got a good one for you today. At least I think it is.

Now recently I changed job titles and have been doing something different at work. I start extremely early in the mornings and have about two hours before I even see another soul.

I don’t know about you guys but I love listening to music. It helps me focus and really get in the zone. The past little while, I’ve been getting tired of listening to the same songs and let’s be real, sometimes I need at least a coffee or two before I can start listening to some super pumped up jams.

Someone had actually recommended listening to a podcast instead and I have been LOVING it. I follow a few that make me laugh and keep me intrigued for an hour. I listen to one in particular that I cannot wait for new episodes to come out weekly. It’s called Anna Faris Unqualified. To be honest, if you are easily offended I may not recommend this for you. It’s hilarious with her Witt, crude jokes, special guests, and the callers asking for her “unqualified” advice.

Don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely love music. When I feel like something different, I’ll throw on a podcast and get in the zone with whatever I’m doing!

If you listen to any good podcasts let me know in the comments below.I’m always looking for new ones to check out!

Podcasts I’m currently listening to/have listened to:

  1. Anna Faris Unqualified
  2. S-town
  3. Serial
  4. Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe
  5. My Dad Wrote A Porno
  6. **Soon to come…. MY OWN PODCAST!**

My experience at a Cat Cafe…

Happy Monday Everyone!

Let me just start off by saying that it was a HUGE struggle getting up this morning, but I had some things to get done this morning. If you are new here, then welcome to my blog! My last post was all about how I stay motivated, check it out for my tips on what has been working for me!

So last week Samantha and I decided to go check out one of our local business called My Kitty Cafe. It is located in downtown Guelph, ON. Here is a link to the website

The front part is a shop with everything you need for you cat from accessories to food and toys. You pay a $5 entry fee or if you purchase one of their amazing homemade coffee style beverages, it goes down to $3.

We then walked into another closed off area that was set up like a little house or apartment which gives it a nice comforting feel for you and the cats! We got so excited that we immediately split up and started playing with all the cats. We honestly lost track of time, which was not bad at all considering I was in heaven!

It definitely is a great cause, and with the help of the community they are able to keep helping local strays and rescues. To this day, more than 430 cats have been saved and adopted. If you live in the area, go check out this amazing cafe. If you don’t live near, then check out your local shelters or cat cafes and adopt don’t shop!

We did Vlog our experience, so definitely check it out if you want to see all the kitties we met! Don’t forget to give the video a thumbs up and subscribe to our channel!

I STARTED A YOUTUBE CHANNEL…

Hi Everyone,

You’re probably thinking, wow this girl just stops posting and now two posts in one day?!  That’s because I have so many things to share with you all!

As you can tell by the title, I have decided to do something that terrifies but also excites me all at the same time. I started a YouTube channel with my best friend and it’s called S and Em.

The reason for this was because we both have always thought about doing it but were always too scared to do it by ourselves so we decided let’s do one together! To be honest, it’s JUST as scary. We are putting ourselves on the internet for everyone to see in hopes that we can maybe inspire other people too.

Our channel consists of a bunch of different things like:

  • Challenges
  • Vlogs
  • Mental Health Awareness
  • Promoting local business
  • Just our adventures
  • Reviews
  • Hauls

We appreciate all the support from our family and friends and cannot wait to see what 2018 has in store for us. Our content may not be everyone’s style, but it ours and you can’t please everyone in the world, right?

As of right now we have two videos up with a third one pending. We post every Sunday and if you all are interested in checking it out, make sure you show your support and subscribe as well as give the video a thumbs up! If you have ANY ideas on what you want to see, leave a comment on this post or the video as well! Everyone has to start somewhere but with the support of others we can grow into somethings great!

How I stay motivated…

Hi Everyone,

I know I am bad with disappearing for a while and I apologize (Once again) to you all who have followed me.  As cheesy as it may seem, it’s a new year and I’m ready to get to work!

Every year I always find myself reflecting on the past months and everything I have accomplished or goals I didn’t quite reach.  I usually create a mental list/a scrap piece of paper of everything I want to do this year but it gets lost within two days.

So this year I am doing things very different.  I bought a massive planner to help keep me organized and I usually carry it with me everywhere. ( I have a really big purse…) In the very first page I put an entire list of things I want to accomplish or do this year. Each month I try to break it up so my list doesn’t become so overwhelming. I need something to keep myself organized and motivated so I can actually track my own progress! So far it has been working really well for me… considering this post was on my list  of things I need to accomplish today!

I recently came across a saying, and I apologize that I can’t remember where it came from but essentially it said “Just because something doesn’t go the way you plan it doesn’t make it a failure, it’s a detour and a stepping stone to success ”

Personally I can get really discouraged when things don’t go as I plan or if something falls through it’s tough not to let my emotions get the better of me. That is why I really liked the above saying. It reminds me that everything does happen for a reason, and even if it’s not how you planned, things always get better and you just need to keep motived even when you’re knocked down by obstacles in life.

I hope this post was helpful in any way and if you are a visual and a list person like me, you definitely should try this! If you have any other cool suggestions, let me know in the comments below!
